I am a bit confused about Zacherus Ailes dying before the 1870 censuss was taken since I have the census page with him as head of the household. Here is the information on the census of which you can check.
the 1870 Mississippi Census, Copiah county, Copiah Springs PO, page 220, 22nd aug 1870 shows: household #786- Ailes, Zach, 69 yrs old, born in Kentucky. " , Robert J., 23 yrs, born in Miss. " , Kate, 23 yrs.,"" " , Emma, 21 yrs," Reed, Sylvia,38 yrs,..." ", Emma, 17 yrs...." ", William E., ?(13)yrs." continued on page B... Frelram?spelling, Frank, 17 yrs B, laborer, Ms Reid, James A., 45, Physician, SC *note ...have that Sylvia Ailes married Joseph A. Reid in 1845 Mississippi.
I must say that it isn't the first time that I have come across a change of the date of death for someone nor that the marker was incorrect. The Federal Census is a document that everyone used for certification or confirmation.I hope everyone checks this out. Thanks. Barbara
