I am a descendent of William Ainlay who came from Yorkshire Eng in the early 1800's to settle in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. He worked for the Canadian Land Co and surveyed land in the western part of Ontario, near Goderich, which he later settled. He founded "Ainlayville" which was later changed to Brussels. He had 12 children with Eleanor Watson. He and Eleanor are buried in Brussels. Most of this children moved to Farnam Nebraska where they raised large families. His daughter Eleanor Sobrina married Levi Matchett in Grand Junction Neb and they then moved to Guthrie Okla where they died and are buried. My gm Dessa Matchett married by gf James Glover in Guthrie.
I have just returned from a visit to Brussels where there is a lot of history on William, the founder of the town.
The original name might have been Ainley.
Do you know if this line fits in with yours?
Barbara
