Kenneth, First off, he's almost certainly too recent to be in my database, although I'll have acheck when I'm next able to access it - not a home right now!
Secondly, I assume that you've done all the obvious things like checking 192.co.uk and the War Graves Commission site to see if he died in the last war - he would have been of an age to have served in it.
There are quite a few other possible sources (up to and including private enquiry agents) that can be used - an obvious one is to check if he had siblings and see if you can get tabs on him that way.Its not that common a name that side of the Pennines, so if his parents were based there it should be possible to pick him up either in the Parish Records or in the GRO indexes.
Please mail me directly if you think I can help - since I dont know what you know about him its hard to make immediate suggestions, but I'll be happy to do what I can...quite apart from which I would like to know about *you* for my database of all AINSLEYs everywhere except continental America (which someone else handles!) if you're willing to tell!
best wishes Hugh Ainsley - the AINSLEY one name study
