I'm hoping to locate any Ainsworths descending from JOSEPH AINSWORTH and Teresa BUTLER (of Lancaster, Manchester, OR Lytham, England).?Joseph AINSWORTH (HAINSWORTH?) was born about 1820/1825 in or near the city of Manchester, in Lancaster (Now Lancashire) County, England. He was employed as a Railway Stoker (Engine Driver). He and Teresa (Butler) Ainsworth had the following children born between late 1840's and 1860:
1.Daniel AINSWORTH (M) 2.George AINSWORTH (M) married Margaret Kelly 3.Joseph AINSWORTH Jr. (M) married Margaret Flatley 4.John AINSWORTH (M) 5.Teresa AINSWORTH (F) 6.Elizabeth AINSWORTH (F) married a man named ? FISHER. 7.Henry AINSWORTH (M) was born Nov 5 1860 in Openshaw, Ardwick, Lancaster. The family lived in Gorton at the time (a suburb of Manchester, England)
All of the brothers apparently were employed as Boiler Makers in a factory (Iron Foundry) called the Tank, in Gorton, England. In U.S., many worked in Shipyards and for railroad companies as boiler makers, pipe fitters, riveters, machinists, molders, etc.
Joseph, George, Henry, Elizabeth, and possibly Teresa emigrated to the U.S. in 1889.Children of George and Margaret Kelly, who also made the trip, included:
?John Joseph AINSWORTH (b. 1880) Mary Margaret AINSWORTH (b. Mar 26 1882, d. Jul 31 1965) Teresa AINSWORTH (born 1884) George AINSWORTH Jr. (b. 1886)
Children of Joseph and Margaret Flatley, who also made the trip, included:
?HENRY AINSWORTH (b. Mar 3 1886) married Elizabeth Rahilly-NY TERESA AINSWORTH (b. Jun 10 1888)
Henry and Elizabeth (Rahilly) Ainsworth had at least one son, also named Henry, while living in Steuben County, NY.
George and his family ended up in Lorain, OH and later Florida. No idea where Joseph Jr. ended up (but clearly his son, Henry was in the NY area).Henry (brother of George & Joseph) returned to England and his sons Henry & Edward, and Henry's family later moved to Toledo, OH)
Elizabeth (Ainsworth) Fisher and Teresa presumably stayed in America, and may have moved south to the Florida area.Nothing else is known about the two brothers who stayed in England (Daniel and John).
With all the people researching this name in Lancashire, England and on the east coast and/or midwest regions of the U.S., I am hoping to connect. If there could be a link, please reply.
