I cannot give you the absolute proof you are looking for but will give what I have. 1840 census Washington Co. Ala. lists Nathaniel with four children under 10. I will refer you to "Our Ainsworth Heritage" by Lucille Dickinson Ainsworth as the place on info about Richard Nathaniel Ainsworth although it does not have proof, it is a history of Richard Nathaniel and Mariah's children. Lucille believes that during the 1850 census Nathaniel and family were in transit between Alabam and Miss. Also documents that show that Nathaniel traveled to the Land Office at New Agusta, Miss. in 1854 to purchace land in Jasper Co.,MS Probate records show Nathaniel died before Nov. 1859. His wife Mariah Jane Sellers Ainsworth shows up in the 1860 census for Jasper Co.,MS with sons Livingston 18, Stafford 16, jacob 14, all born Ala., daughter A. 13, son Patterson 10,b. MS,Marion 1,b. MS Margaret 9.Living next door is her son John Thomas (Jack) and family. By 1870 census, Mariah and children in Smith Co. living in household of John Thomas.
