Dear cousins, today i was contacted from someone who knew a Joe Ainsworth. They found me, simply because i listed Porter Lester Ainsworth b. July 6, 1868 West Union, Iowa, fourth son of Hon. Lucian Lester Ainsworth. I do not have much information on Porter, other than when he was born and with whom he married. All of course listed in the Genealogy of the Ainsworth's in America. This person asked me to fit in Joe Ainsworth as the son of Porter, well of course that takes work to do so. I would prefer he is a proven son than just hoping he is. So... if anyone knows about Porter Ainsworth and the known children he has, please email me directly at Jesy929@msn.com. I'd like to make the wonderful memory of Joe worth something, as they asked me too. You may read this persons email, i'll list it below. Thanks! Hopefully we can find this Joe Ainsworth that lived for awhile in his older years in Ca, and hopefully we can find the child they spoke of and put them into the files online so that others can learn and find them when they need. Jesy
This is a little something I wanted to share with you after seeing your file on World Connect on the names above. My wife and I both worked in the lumber industry in our youth. We were sitting the other morning and talking about people we had worked with and one name was brought up that we both admired.JOE AINSWORTH was a bookkeeper for Lorenz Lumber in Burney California and one of the most intelligent men either one of us had every met.I decided to do a little research and try and find something out about his youth. We could not agree on the date he passed away so I check the California death index, and below is what I found. Then I checked the 1880 census of the U.S. and found there were only two families of Dershan's in the country in that year one in Oregon and the other in Fayette Co., IA.So it was very easy with what you had posted to fit everything together, and discover the he was the son of Porter Lester Ainsworth. Now we understand why he was so intelligent for your story tells about a good man and our friendthat came from very good stock with a long family traditon.Joe was a private man and came to our area in his late to 50's maybe early 60's.His wife name was Elizabeth (Betty)maiden name unknown. They moved to Burney from Bishop, Inyo Co., CA and I believe he was taken back there to be buried. It seems like he talked of a son but never met him so am not sure. This note was just so you could add him to your family line. I know he is a distant distant cousin but wanted someone to remenber him.
