Thanks, Patricia. I kept digging online last night and was able to confirm on Find-A-Grave that Steven Strickland was descended from Simeon and Jennie Strickland, just from a different child of theirs than my family is.So we're related as distant cousins. The Ainsworths and Blakeneys are related. Edgar Ainsworth in my data is only listed as Edgar, not as Edgar Scranton. His father was Scranton Ainsworth. Scranton was the son of John Thomas Ainsworth who was a son of Richard Nathaniel Ainsworth and his wife Mariah Sellers Ainsworth. John Thomas' brother William Patterson Ainsworth Sr. married Terry Blakeney, a sister to my great-great-grandfather Robert Jacob Blakeney Sr. So in this case, I am related to Anna Laura on my mother's side and my great-aunt Terry Blakeney Ainsworth was her husband's great aunt by marriage. But I'm related by blood to the Ainsworths in other connections, one being that one of my ggg-grandmother's was Mary Martha Ainsworth. This was the first time, however, that I've found a connection between my mother's Strickland line and my dad's Ainsworth line. I wouldn't be related to the Mills family other than by marriage to Steven. I hope this info helps you about the Ainsworths, just let me know. I have data on all the original Ainsworth family lines in Smith County, Mississippi. The Ainsworth family made marriages with several of my other family lines, resulting in a good many multiple relationships.
