Ainsworth b. b1877 Warren, , Ohio (1822-1893) explorer, riverboat captain, Pres. of Oregon Railroad & Navigation Co.Founded the Bank of Portland. Ainsworth House in Oregon City National Landmark. He had a son John C. who was Pres. of Ainsworth Bank of Portland. b. 1870. His brother George J. b.1852 became a riverboat captain and then took charge of his fathers businessuntil his death . L.S. Ainsworth, son of Capt. George ,b.1877 also worked the river. He ended his days southwest of Hood river in the Belmont District and grew cherries.He married twicedied 1905. Capt. John C. Ainsworth has his picture and history of his contribution to the Columbia River in the museum at the Bonneville dam. He sailed as far up the river past Lewiston and is credited with naming the city.
