Just as an aside.... Evidently the family was quite proud of the picture of the old sgt, the one they always put in the books. Steve McGregor who lives in the Lochwinnoch area showed me an old frame he had, which had once contained a picture of Henry given to his family by Airth relations. He had no idea why they gave this to his family, because they were not actually related to the old man, and he had been dead for some time. He remembered that they kept the picture upstairs somewhere, but hung it in the parlour when any of the Airth conection were visiting. Also as an aside Henry's stone house has recently been renovated, and much of the outside repaired. As an apprentice stone and brick mason I must say they did a very fine job.
