As I'm sure you know, Carnwath is hardly a big place, so I guess we may be talking about the same family.

That would probably make him the son of one of the male children in the family you are talking about.

Thomas was a farmer of 200 acres in the 1881 census (a farm called Lewinside)- I don't know if this helps you make the connection.If you can, give me a shout.If I get there first, I'll let you know.
