1857 - Thomas AITKEN m. Betty MUNDELL, Westerkirk, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, and their family Willam Mundell, Robert John, Thomas, James, William, Malcolm and Agnes came to Canada.
They settled in Queen's Bush on the Turnberry - Culross boundary.They cleared the land and erected log and frame buildings.Malcolm died & William took over the farm.The rest of the family scattered with Robert, John and William Mundell moving to Culross.
Robert AITKEN m. Jane BULLARD - they had eight children - 2 d. before they were 4 years of age.Robert was on the first train that crossed the rockies to Toronto.In 1891, they moved to Pilot Mound, Manitoba, eventually selling the Culross farm to William Mundell.
In 1895, tragedy struck and within 2 years, Robert, his wife Jane, and children Mary, Abram, and Janie all died with galloping consumption.The remaining family, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Tommy B moved back to Culross, Ontario.
