This seems so strange--I guess everyone has very intelligent people and "ill" people in their family--well I have both, and it is all on my Akers' side as well.My sister and I are supposed to be super-smart (CAN'T see it!)My father definately is.He is who eveyone goes to when they can't figure something out!He has a master's in Mathematical Theory. (This is NOT my area of expertise!!)He also has a creative side, especially photography. He also has some depression, and is most complimented if you call him wierd!!His father (who's deceased) Archie Akers, was a prize-winning amateur photographer. He was also a VERY smart man, but rather undereducated, if you can imagine.I also have an Akers aunt who has severe Environmental Illness and severe depression. My other Akers aunt is very smart, somewhat dyslexic, and an incredibly creative and artistic person. A cousin of these siblings was very disturbed as a child and did some bizarre, even somewhat harmful things. My grandfather Archie was also mentally disturbed--this was always attributed to his having served in the thick of it in Guadal Canal.I don't know about the mental state of my Akers further back.My line does go back to William I who m Katherine.William came to VA in the 1600's.I am also related to the Blackburn line, and I believe that Blackburn married his (Akers) cousin.
Don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I find it all very interesting.I pride myself on being somewhat intelligent, creative, and "different"--it's not necessarily bad.I would like to hear other's similar stories!
