Heather, I checked for any other information on Mary Ann, Solomon Akers wife, in my book and couldn't find anything on her family.I am e-mailing you though the entire article at the address you have listed on Genforum.By the way I am not related to any of these families, it's just that I have this huge Grayson County genealogical book and thought it would be nice to check the names listed in it against some of the queries that are posted in the hopes that it may help those seeking information on their ancestors. As far as where else to look, if I were you, I would obtain if possible, any birth and death records in Texas first, then censuses and go from there. You have the location and place of death of Mary Ann (Johnson)Akers so it should be simple to obtain her death certificate. I just did a quick search on Larkin Akers at the Mormon archives online and he is listed. His birthdate Apr. 9, 1838 in Floyd County and he married Mary Ann Elkins in 1858. One thing I noticed though, in the bio I am e-mailing you Solomon's wife is listed as Mary Ann Johnston (with a T) and you show it as Johnson.I don't know if the author of the bio made a typo or if her name truly was Johnston instead of Johnson, but that might be something you look into, otherwise you could be looking for the wrong Mary Ann:) Oh and thank you for the offer to help me with my research.I have gone about as far as I can on my mother's side and right now I'm working with folks around the country to get further back on my father's line---the DeGaugh's.If you ever see that name anywhere further back than 1850 or so please let me know, I sure would appreciate it.
