I am looking to find current email addresses of as many descendants of William Akers of England and Essex Co., VA. Specifically descendants of Blackburn Akers (his gr-grandson) who married ? Blackburn. I am currently writing up my notes on the Akers and want to reconnect with the people whose emails I lost in a computer crash to correct and update my notes. Also am going to put my notes on my website (http://www.geocities.com/elyandra1974/) as I get them finished for each generation and would like to list any contributors on the main page of the Akers section (located under paternal line) so they can receive credit for any information they have given. If you would like to contribute or have emailed me in the past about this family, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
It is my hope that the notes that I have collected from various correspondence and records over the years will help provide a base for future research on this family, but I need help with corrections and additions to the information. I also hope to plan a trip to Kentucky in the next 3 years, it would be sooner than that but I believe that I need to correct and update what I have before I can even think of going to search for additional information. Any information that is provided will help tremendously. If you have any corrections or additions to what is on the site and / or you are a descendant of this family please contact me. Please provide sources for your information however so that they can be included as shown in the example. ex. (Source: JMH : mentions 1880 census of Floyd Co., KY household...) where JMH is the name of the individual, email is in < > and original source of information or source given is listed after the : . If the source has been checked and I have evaluated the source I will list it something like this (Source: JMH : mentions 1880 Census of Floyd Co., Kentucky household...; checked JMH 2/15/04) or (Source: 1880 census of Floyd Co., KY household ....: originally provided by JMH , checked JMH 2/15/04). This is to serve double duty. 1 to provide the original source so that other researchers can look at it and judge its validity. and 2. to provide documentation for the information in case something unforseen happens to the original researcher. This was brought to the forfront of my mind when we lost Earl Akers, Sr. a couple of years ago and I looked in my files and wept because I had not asked him all the questions that I needed to and because I didn't have all of the original sources that he used for the data listed in my files. I still miss his emails and it is hard to believe that he is gone. I can only hope to find documentation on the information that he provided that I don't have original sources for when I go on my trip to KY and / or Virginia sometime in the next 3 years, however, this could all have been avoided if the original sources of information would have been placed in the original correspondence.
