Jeanne,I am actually researching DANIEL ACRES beginning in about 1810 in Campbell and Scott Co's, Tennessee.Daniel was born about 1794 in Virginia, according to the Scott Co TN 1850 Census. There was also a JOHN ACRES in Campbell Co TN, along with Daniel, who was probably either his father or a brother.
I am gathering whatever I can on early VA Acres/Akers, in hopes of finally getting something on Daniel.I don't know that William Accres in (Old) Rappahannock Co, VA is connected in any way to Daniel, but I happened to stumble across him in SLC while researching another surname.I find it's wise to copy the info when the opportunity is thereand see where it leads me.Maybe William will prove to be an ancestor of Daniel and maybe he won't.I am hoping someone will know of a son or grandson who went to TN from VA in the latter part of the 1700's or early 1800's, possibly through KY or NC. If Daniel's age was correct (or close) on the 1850 Census, then he would've been 15-20 years old in 1810, which is the earliest I find him in TNCampbell Co TN is on the KY border so possibly Daniel's migration pattern would be VA/KY/TN. If your notes show a DANIEL or a JOHN AKERS/ACRES in early KY that can't be accounted for later on , possibly that's the clue I'm hunting for.Daniel 's wife may have been a Nancy CROSS, since an Elizabeth Cross, aged abt 83 was living with the family in 1850. Thanks for responding and for checking your notes. Mary
