I am thrilled to find so much information about the Akers families in Southeast Missouri.I, too, am a descendent of Milledge Franklin Akers.
In addition to his sons, Milledge also had a daughter named Alberta (b. 1871).
This is my link:Alberta married Robert Carson Children - Mamie, Robert, Clara Mamie married James Underwood Children - Irene, Ansel, Robert, Alberta, Paul, Maxine, Billy, Jane Maxine married James Thompson Children - Linda, Nancy, Michael (me)
Therefore, Milledge is also my great-great grandfather. In your entry of February, 2002, you were unsure of where Thomas lived. He did stay in the Portageville area. In the early 1900s he lived in the house where I was born (in 1949).It was located about 8 miles southeast of Portageville on what was called Cushion Lake (since been drained and the house was disassembled by my Uncle Ansel in the early 1960s).
Do you know where Milledge is buried?Maybe or maybe not by chance, there is a Milledge Franklin Akers (died 1924) who is buried at Three Rivers, Texas.Three Rivers is approximately 50 miles from where I presently live, but I have found no other information on this burial site.Is this our Milledge Franklin Akers? Thanks for renewing by desire to know more about my lineage.
