Thanks David. That's the family. The question is Hiram Akers father. The story I've heard for years is that Mary Sturgeon became pregnant in Virginia and moved by herself to Kentucky. There she married Tolbert Akers and he adopted Hiram, who took the Akers surname. The natural father of Hiram according to some, yet uncomfirmed reports, is that his father was a man named Berry. The yDNA test of one of Hiram's male descendants compared with results in a Berry DNA project might confirm that family connection...or prove it wrong. It might also link with another family or no one at all. Right now, we're at a dead end and the yDNA test might be the only way to move this story forward.
Are you a direct descendant of Hiram Akers? If not, do you know someone who might be interested in taking the yDNA test?
