I am also descended from the Aker(s) of Wythe County.
Andrew Jackson (who was president) was almost certainly not a descendant of the Jacksons of Wythe County.
According to the biography on Wikipedia, his parents were living down near the North/South Carolina border when he was born in 1767.
The research I've done on this Jackson family (as part of my overall Wythe County/Southwest Virginia research) indicates that Elizabeth Jackson's parents were John Jackson and Nancy Farmer. John Jackson was born in England (not sure where) in 1772, and Nancy Farmer was born abt 1780, probably in Wales.
There is another Jackson family living in SW Virginia, who came from the Westmoreland/Cumberland area of England, so it is possible that both of these Jackson families are related somehow (although I haven't yet attempted to look to see if a connection exists).
In any case, Andrew Jackson, who was president, had no biological descendants from his marriage to Rachel Donelson.See his wikipedia entry for more information
