Leland:It is very hard to be sure about any item of genealogical info. that you may find. Your best bet is when you find several items that agree. Previously, I referred to two websites (mine and Earl B. Akers) which contain about 10,000 members of the Akers family. We are both confident that they are correct but not sure. The two websites cover two different lineages of the Akers family.I often refer to my lineage as the New Jersey family because they initally settled in N. J. Earl refers to his lineage because they initally settled in Virginia. Both lineages begin with a William.Probably because that was a very popular name and people often named their children after a king.
The websites may initally appera as confusing because of the recording system. This system was adopted some time ago by genealogist to help keep thing straight.I give an example of this method on the format page of my website.
It appears that some of your data jumps from one lineage to the other.(William and katherine to Robert and sarah). I recommend that you go to worldconnect.ancestry.comand examine several of the hits for Simon Akers,b. 1756 and Mary Smith - one of the hits list several of their children as mentioned by you.It also gives his father and mother which leads to their parents.
I noticed a couple of items in your lineage which I intend to check out - it appears as new info.
