Vivian:Let me begin this way.I have a webpage covering about 10,000 members of the Akers Family. It's address ispages.suddenlink.net/akersgenealogyUpon entering the full address move thru to the table of contents.Scroll down to find two William Akers.Click on the one by Earl B. Akers.Earl's data deals with the descendants of Blackburn Akers Sr. While moving thru Earl's data you will find that he also had a problem about blackburn marriages. Please dont accept the following with out ample support.During the civil war, a lot of government records were destroyed by fire.As a result it is very hard to find genealogical information. Some can be found in library volumes. One researcher, Henry Bracken tried to develop genealogies from property and tax records. He did not appear to be fully knowledgeable about all of the Akers in Va. I have located a few.I have also found that a group of Blackburns lived in Pa. in that time frame.A webpage covering the Blackburn family may still be available on the web. William Akers from the N. J. family married Dolly (or Polly) blackburn. Blackburn SR may have married a relative .
