LUCRETIA SMITH died of heart failure at the residence of W.P. AKES, 4 miles southwest of Leon. The deceased was born February l0, l830, and died October l3, l898, at the advanced age of 68 years, 8 months and 3 days. The deceased was a resident of Gentry County, Mo., and was at the time of her death visiting relatives in Decatur County, being a sister of S.R. AKES. Her first husband was HENRY HAMLIN and to them were born six children, three boys and three girls, five of whom are still living in Missouri. The father and one child preceded her to the resting place. She was married the second time, in l897, to G.W. SMITH, who died about a year after their marriage.
MRS. SMITH was a faithful mother, a loving companion, and a faithful Christian, who had been in the service of her Lord for about forty years, being at the time of her death a member of the Christian Church at Lone Star, Mo.
Her remains were taken to Missouri for interment and were laid to rest in the Lone Star Cemetery in Gentry County, Mo., the funeral services being conducted at the residence of W.P. AKES by the writer.
