Thanks for your prompt reply Pam. This Texas Akin group is hard to follow. There are no official records. Like my Holmes line after the Civil War they were very poor. They lost anyhting they had during the war and from then on they survived as share-croppers, never owning land nor leaving wills. They seemed to have drifted quite a lot from Van Zandt County to Hood County to Grayson County and Collin County leaving no documented records anywhere. I think I'm going to put thid line on the shelf for a while. I didn't know I had Akin ancestors until I explored my Estes line and found Nathaniel H. Estes married to a Margaret Sarah Akin in 1845.
