Patrick! I sure hope we are on the right trail - I'm very excited re your message. Yes, my William Alexander Akin had a son, James Monroe Akin, born 04 Oct l859, "in Alabama" is all I have re where. He and Rhoda Margaret, his wife, had 3 more children; James was the eldest. The 2nd son, William Alexander, jr. was my grandfather. There were 2 sisters as well, Florence and Henrietta. (Some) of us Akins in his line weren't very good about keeping up with other family members, so I don't know any anecdotal clues that would help me go back beyond great-grandfather William Sr. My eldest uncle told me that we were supposed to have immigrated from Scotland, and that perhaps that ancestor's first name was James. I can bring William jr.'s line up to date; am still working on his siblings. We don't think our James Monroe ever married, because he was not known to have had any family when he died at Clinton (Custer) OK on 07 April l925. If this dovetails with the information that you have, I will gladly swap information with you. It would be such a treat to surprise my siblings and cousins with more knowledge about our ancestors. Last Christmas I was able to give them a veritable book about Rhoda Margaret Files, Wm. Sr's wife. If you are interested in her, I can put you in touch with a cousin who has documented her family. Thank you so much for replying to my message - can hardly wait to hear from you again. And, could you please tell me how you are connected to the family? Maybe I can tell the rest of the bunch that we now know more cousins! ----In gratitude, Mary Akin.
