My research of Akins living in York Co. SC mostly concerned the William Akin who died about 1814/1816 in York Co. SC.
As I am sure that you know were several men named William Akin living York Co. SC about the same time. And two of them were documented as being Revoultionary soldiers. The RS William Akin who died in AL was born in Cecil Co. MD.Then there was a RS William Akin who died in TX and was born in York Co. SC abt. 1765.The RS William Akin who died in TX was the son of Alexander Akin Sr. who died in York Co. SC abt. 1805.The Willam Akin Sr. who died in York Co. SC abt. 1816 was probably the brother of Alexander Akin Sr.
*Documentation for the children of William Akin Sr. of York Co. SC was reported by J. J. Sams in his Journal written in Izard Co. AR before the late 1890's. J. J. Sams lived in Izard Co. AR most or all of his life and at one time seved as a Judge in Izard Co. AR. I have collected court records that can document the information that J. J. Sams reported in his Journal Chapter 31 about the Akins.J. J. Sams Journal can be found in the Newberry Library in Chicago, IL.

*William Akin Sr. had at least one Unknown child who was the parent of Eleanor V. Leach. William Akin Sr. named in his Estate his granddaughter, Eleanor V. Leach. It is possible that William Akin Sr. had several unknown children by his first wife.If not for J J Sams we would not know today that James Akin and Joshua Akin were his children by a first wife.William Akin Sr. did not name any children by his first wife in his Will dated 1814/1816.Except for JJ Sams Journal the only clue his Will offers to other children is because he mentions a granddaughter, Eleanor V. Leach.
