Seeking information regarding James Akin(s) who purchased 200 acres in Mecklenburg Co., N.C. in 1777 from John McKnit Alexander. Believed to be the father of: William, Thomas, John, Rachel, James and Agnes Akins. Thomas and Agnes are buried in Steele Creek cemetery near Charlotte. William (b. 1756 Cecil Co. MD) served in Revolutionary War and married Elizabeth McCorkle in 1784. Elizabeth was the daughter of Stephen McCorkle and Ann Forbes, who are buried at Ebenezer Cemetery in York Co., S.C. William later served as Sheriff of York Co. and John was deputy Sheriff ca 1788. Both William and John later moved to Morgan Co., Georgia ca. 1810-1817 where John died in 1839. William later moved to Cherokee Co., Alabama where he died in 1841, buried at Carmel Cemetery, Spring Garden, AL.
