Thank you for your very detailed reply, however you have failed to provide any proofwith your posting, I appreciate that many people may derive comfort and a sense of belongingby affiliation to this group, but I only ask that it be noted that this organisation is an American and not a Scottish clan, I have visited the Website, and I did it with an open mind, but Iwas disappointed to find the lack of truthful historical fact on the website and hence my postings on the message board, if you wish to supply me with some historical research supporting your claim that there was an ancient Akins clan, I will of course read it and if finding that I am wrong, I will post a retraction, it is not my wish to insult anyone, as an Aiken myself, It brings me joy to think that people of the same name are getting together and keeping Scottish culture popular and enjoying themselves in the process, however, I am sure the clan Akins society has no official backing as a Scottish clan in Scotland, and I think that should be pointed out to the members themselves after all, no one wants to take a trip to Scotland and have the old guard there laugh in their faces, do they?
The fact that this is new does not detract from the fact that this is a family organisation which obviously gives alot of joy to people, I wish you all luck, but please can you supply proof with your claims.
