Hi Jim,Thomas Akins who moved to Wilkes Co., Georgia in 1785 from Mecklenburg Co., Virginia, had several daughters: Polly, Haley, and Elizabeth, who married Gunnals brothers: Daniel, Stephen and Willis. Thomas also had a son named Robert, who was given the farm when Thomas Akins died in 1810 in Wilkes Co., GA., though I believe he would have been pretty old when his father died. Robert Akins appears on the 1830 census for Taliaferro Co., Georgia as being between 70 and 80 years old, making his date of birth between 1750-1760. Possibly the Robert Akins who married the Gunnals girl that you mention may have been a grandson of Thomas Akins. I would be interested in knowing more about this, though I am not related to this family. I help to maintain the archives for the Clan Akins Society and would be interested in including what information you may have on this family.
