Oops, I just reread your message. Your grandfather would have been my greatgrandfather's brother! My greatgrandfather was George Sumner Albee. He held all of those positions. As I understand it, he had returned to school for a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan where he met my greatgrandmother, Linda Althea Hatt, who was the first woman admitted to the University. One of his friends was Andrew D. White, the first president of Cornell—where my grandfather received advanced degrees in Economics and Law. He was also White's personal secretary when he was ambassador to Germany prior to WWI. This is the Robert Sumner Albee who wrote the family genealogy.
