There isn't a reunion scheduled at this time for this year... not sure when the next will be.seems to be every few years. There was a huge gathering last time at Roque bluffs, i was surprised at how many came all the way from Mass.
Yes, Albee's still live in machias, Mostly in hadley's lake, which is where I grew up.My grandfather had 5 kids and 3 of them (was 4) built homes in hadley's lake and my grandfather's brother lives in hadley's lake with most of his kids (they built homes there).Hadley's lake is aka "albeeville".We live walking distance William Albee's grave.
Although I don't live there now, I take great pride knowing my family has been on the same land for so long.Unforunately I don't know much regarding their history other than they are hard workers, mostly working the land and pass their land down from generation to generation. It seems the youngest of the families inherit each homestead.Time changes the land, and I remember my grandfather once saying he'd love to have known where the original homes were.
Also to note: in machias, there are two sets of Albee's.I don't know where they come from, but the other set is not related to me.I come from the hadley lake Albee's.
I will check back in and let ya know the next time I know of a reunion.
