Joseph porter Albee, stock rancher, changed the spelling of the name from Allbee to Albee, born Sandusky Ohio. May 10 1815, was killed by the Indians , at Arcata CA, Nov 4 1862; married at Hillsdale MI, Jul 18 1839, Caltha Putnam b Oxford Ohio, Jun 13 1816, died Eureka CA. Dec 14 1905, daughter of Dan Baldwin and Loise Maria ( Ensign) Putnam; 8 children.
son of Joseph Albee, teacher, soldier of the War of 1812, is said b near Albany NY. in 1787. He was the executor of his fathers will in 1808, married no later than 1811. Electa Crippen, b c 1790, died Somonauk IL, Dec 1 1852. They sold land at Aurelius town, Cayuga Co. NY. in 1811 & again in 1814, thwen removed to Ohio. He was living at Fremont Ohio in 1852, and died there Jul 1 1852. He signed his name Albee as executor of his fathers will, but is said to have spelled it Allbee late in life. 15 children ,Joseph Porter #4.
grandson of Eleazer Albee, who d 1810, married Dinah () who survived him. Probably the Eleazer Albie who according to the 1790 census, was head of a family of 2 men, and 6 females, at Granville Washington Co. NY. One family tradition is that he came from Mass., where he was a scout in the Rev., attached to no Regiment. Another tradition is that he and his wife was of Welsh ancestry. He sold land in Aurelius town Cayuga Co. NY. in 1796. And his will probated in that County, named his children as legatees. (10 children , Joseph #10)
