I am not sure if i can help but the story in my family is there were three alber boys who came to country in the 1800's from vienna austria .i have traced them back to three brothers who spoke fluent german named joseph , bernard or bernhardt , and pete. pete was blind. they changed their name to albers because people kept referring to them as the alber's boys. i am not sure if they came over in the 1800's or sooner. i might have to check and see if there is an ellis island website ! most of my relatives still live in the midwest. i do know that there are franks in my family tree if that is and help to you.
