Jamie, I have no information on your greatgrandfather Philip Alberico. He was not from the Abruzzo region.
However, I looked around and found some information which I think pertains to him.Am I right in assuming that your ggrandfather settled in Utica, NY?
I found Philip Alberico on the Ellis Island website. Here is his arrival information:
Departed out of port of Naples, arriving Ellis Island, NY aboard SS Prinzess Irene on November 6, 1913.
Filippo Alberico, age 22, merchant, US citizen, coming from the village of Ausonia, Caserta Province, Lazio region, Italy. Final destination is his mother Maria Domenica, Broad Street, Utica, Ny.Claims US citizenship. Was first in America from 1893 to 1913. Traveling with him is his wife Maria Ann. (short for Annunziata which is Nancy in English) maiden name Amico, age 20, a dressmaker from the village of Ausonia, Caserta Province, Italy.
I was unable to find Filippo's first trip to America in 1893 but he would have been an infant and traveling with his mother Maria Domenica. Do you know Pilip's father's name perhaps I can look to see when he first arrived in America for you.
I expect that your greatgrandfather made this second trip to Italy to get married and he brought his new bride back with him.
Just a note:Ausonia is no longer located in the province of Caserta. The whole region was re-aligned in 1926 and Ausonia was assigned to Frosinone Province. It is a small mountain village. If you would like more information on this village I have a good website that I can send to you.
What other type of information are you looking for about your greatgrandparents? When is your dads birthday?
Let me know if I can be of more help. Buona Fortuna, Cherrie
