Saw your 122700 posting #194 re the above. I have a great-grandmother, Karolina Louisa Helene Albers, b. 08 Jan 1843 in Jever, Oldenburg. She was at least one of five children of Johann Frederick Albers and Caroline Biehne aka Countess Caroline Von Offen. Johann was b.c. 1806 in Oldenburg and d.c. 1880, posssibly in northern Illinois. It is thought that Caroline died in Oldenburg around the time of birth of her last child, Karl, sometime in 1860. There is no information to support why Caroline was referred to as a countess.
Johann Frederick Albers [farmer] age 57, children Karolina, age 20, August[farmer], age 18, Friedrika, age 16, [can't read the name or age of this male child], and Karl, age 3, arrived at the Port of New York from Bremen aboard the "Stella" on 08 Jun 1863. The family settled near the town of Homewood a few miles south of Chicago. Does any of this tie in with your A.M. Albers, born in Jever in 1804? Duncan Davidson D3carmel@aol.com
