My father, Wayne Alberson, has traced our lineage back to Charles, and all the way back to Virginia. It seems that Charles was one of many (more than 10) children who spread out when they left home in Virginia. Charles enlisted from Mississippi, where there were quite a few Albersons. His Son, Reuben, enlisted with him and they were both in the Civil War. After the war, with Charles dead, Reuben apparently returned to Mississippi and raised a family. Apparently, Charles' parents spelled their name as "Alverson", and the oldest relative we have traced, was on the pension list for the state of VA as having fought in the Revolutionary War. My dad has all the info, but we haven't been able to trace anyone "across the big pond" (back to europe). Hope this helps you. By the way, have you been able to figure out where Charles might be buried? We know he died in Harrodsburg, but according to Civil War documentation, a LOT of soldiers just weren't kept track of after they were wounded, hospitalized, or deceased. Feel free to write with questions. If I can answer them, I will. Coinkeedink, my wife's name is Teresa!
