While doing some research, I came across a letter that talks about a name change.Sometimes I think my ancestors just appeared from nowhere.I’m hoping that this information will help someone dispel that theory about their own. This person is not related to me at all.I have a zerox copy of this letter if anyone is interested.
A letter was written by Halver S. Berg in Feb 19, 1906, Clarkfield, Minnesota. It was signed “Halver S. BERG alias Alver B. ALBERT” and a P.S. was added, stating “My name was changed by act of Minnesota Legislature in 1872 from that of Alver B. Albert to that of Halver S. Berg.In our correspondence hereafter, you will please direct to Halver S. Berg.”
Albert/Berg was a member of Company I of the 11th Regiment of the Minnesota Volunteer Infantry from Aug 26, 1864 to Jun 26, 1865. He was corresponding with the president of the 11th Reg. Minn. Vol. Inf. Association.
