There is some evidence per the IGI that Andrea Alberti's wife was Donna Veronica dei Medici di Cremona. The "Donna" was an Italian honorific, meaning "Lady" so she was a daughter of a more or less noble family. Her surname was Medici and she was from Cremona, a town to the west of Venice. I've done as exhaustive a search as I can on the Medici family and can find not a single Veronica, in Venice, Cremona or Florence (where the Medici family were the Grand Dukes at the time).Andrea was also probably a descendant of the illustrious Alberti family of Florence and Venice (goes back to ca. 900) of which Leon Battista Alberti (famous architect/writer/artist) was a member.
