ALBERTY, JOHN was a white resident among the Cherokees. He was born in 1793 in Surry County, North Carolina. He married a Cherokee woman, Mary Wright on September 10, 1814. On October 11, 1829 he enrolled for the west having five people in his family and five slaves. He was last mentioned as living in the Going Snake District in 1860. John and Mary Wright Alberty were the parents of:
1Moses Alberty born in 1815, married Elizabeth Buffington ( Cherokee). He was charged with murder in 1842. He was still living in 1875.
2Frances Alberty( married twice, 1st to Dr. John Thornton, 2nd to Joshua W. Ellis)
3John Wright Alberty born 1824, died 1902, married 1st Clara Buffington,2nd to Maria Hildebrand ( both Cherokee).
4Cornelius Alberty ( married 1st to Elizabeth Tyner, 2nd to Ruth Ann Thornton)
5Elizabeth Alberty, married Richard Eaton
6Jesse Clinton Alberty, (married Catherine Collins, 2nd to Elmira Ward)

The only other Eaton mentioned is a John H. Eaton, a Chickasaw who died about 1847 leaving as his heir Isaac Alberson.
