James Jasper Albin was my great uncle.Hewas the older brother of my grandfather, Harrison Owens Albin, and the uncle of my father, John Leslie Albin, who was a first cousin to Lila, Elmer, James Earl, Carl, Roy, Edna B., Effie, Vida, and Eva.One of the daughters was nicknamed "Dollie", which is what she was called when I was introduced to her. James Jasper and his wife Mattie (Whatley) Albin, were known to me as "Uncle Jim" and "Aunt Mattie" which were what my dad's family called them.
I was best acquainted with James Earl Albin who lived in Dallas and worked for the Katy Railroad. When he was growing up in Dickens County, he was called Earl, probably to prevent confusion. However, everyone in Dallas, including his wife, called him "Jimmy".He caused me to be interested in the geneology of the Albin family by telling me tales of his and my father's grandfather, John F. Albin, who had told them of his adventures in conscripted service to the Texas Rangers while fighting bands of raiding Comanches.
Later, I learned of the Albin Cemetery in southern Comanche County near the community of Fleming.John F. Albin, his father, Harrison Wiley Albin, mother and stepmother, and several brothers and sisters, as well as their descendents, are buried there.I hope this is the kind of information that you needed.
Sincerely,
Les Albin
