I am looking for info on mygggrandfather William. I have no info on his family. He was in the civil war - Illinois Infantry - Company A - 85th Regiment. At the time he lived in Spring Lake, Illinois. He married a Catherine Pemberton in 1867 in Illinois but must have divorced and married my gggrandmother Elizabeth McConahay - also born Indiana - They moved to Adams Co. Iowa and their first child Almira in 1869 - Two others died Emma Mae and Minnie Leota as toddlers. He is died in 1877 and is buried next to his daughters Emma and Minnie at the Brooks cemetery in Adams county. He has a civil war headstone. His wife Elizabeth and daughter Almira moved to Valparaiso Nebraska with Elizabeth's parents John and Jane McConahay. In the civil war pension index both Catherine Pemberton Caloway and Elizabeth filed for widows pension. A Lydia Pepmeyer is listed as a child also supposedly from Catherine and William. This is a big mystery - Married Catherine in 1867 and by 1869 he was married and had a daughter with Elizabeth. Any info would be appreciated.
