In approximately 1850 George Albrecht and his brother arrived in New York harbor having stowed away on a cattle boat before leaving Germany to escape conscription into the Prussian Army at ages 18 to 20. Brothers became seperated from each other and were never in contact with each other again. George worked his way up to Wellesley/Kitchner area of Ontario, Canada as a farm hand/handyman. Brothers name not known by any of the family members living and as George was born out of wedlock it must be surmised that the brother may have had the same status.
