The birthplace for Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Albrecht has been located. Friedrich Albrecht who emigrated 1857 to Cook County, Illinois and died there 8 March 1896 was born 2 Nov 1829 in Preetzin/Liepen, Kreis Anklam, Pommern, the son of Joh David and Maria (Gladrow) Albrecht. The church records for the Village of Preetzin are found in adjacent Liepen. Friederike Albrecht, a sister to Friedrich was likewise born in Preetzin on 10 March 1825. She also came to Cook County in 1857 with her husband, Carl Peters, and in the 1880 census they were residents of Barrington Twp, Cook, Illinois. Johann David Albrecht and Maria Gladrow were married in Nerdin, Kreis Anklam. The abstract of the marriage record reflects that: Johann David Albrecht, shepherd, son of the deceased shepherd from Bolletin Johann Friedrich Albrecht, age 30, married on 5 June 1817 in Nerdin Maria Dorothea Gladrow, age 19, stepdaughter of the farmer Christian Hannemann from Nerdin (#7/1817). In 1984 I published an article detailing the children of Fred Albrecht and his wife, Friederike Scharlau. It appears in the Winter 1984/85 issue of "Where The Trails Cross" the quarterly of the South Suburban G & H Society. This Quarterly is found in larger Cook County libraries.
