I am looking for the first wife of William Albright, born ca 1785 in Orange County, NC. died after 1850 in Benton County, Alabama. The Margaret who is living with him in the 1850 Census, is not the Mother of all his children, she may even be his third wife. Everyone has put in their trees they were married in 1804 in Elbert County, GA, but Elbert County, GA can not find a marriage record for them. I believe the Margaret in the census is Margaret Keeling, born ca 1785. She is the daughter of William Keeling and wife Mary of Prince Edward County,VA. She was still Margaret Keeling when her father's estate was settled in 1822. But by 1841, she is mentioned in the estate settlement of her uncle, John Keeling in Benton County, estate administrator was, another uncler, Abner Keeling. Here's what I found May 17, 1841, (Benton County, Alabama) Statement for final settlement by Abner W. Keeling One of the distributees was Mary Albright (Allbright)and Washington Albright, minor children of William and Margaret Allbright, late Margaret Keeling. I do not know what "late Margaret Keeling" meant, that she used to be Margaret Keeling, and now Albright, or if they meant she died. And if that is the case, then the Maraget living with William Albright in 1850 is a third wife. Margaret Keeling was still single in 1822, but married William Albright before 1838, when John Keelings estate settlement began. So she could not be the Mother of all the children of William who was born 1805-1820. Including my ancestor, Jacob, born 1818 and married Elizabeth Reid. So there is another wife out there.
