The information about a Robert Alberton or Albrighton being the first Albritton in Virginia has not been proven. There is no documented evidence of this.Dr. Erret C. Albritton of Washington, D.C., an early researcher, was the first to mention this.He stated that this Robert arrived on the second supply ship to Jamestown that was commanded by a Captain Newport. Dr. Albritton most likely was referring to a documented arrival of a Robart Brittin who arrived in Virginia on the ship Edwin in 1618 from England. This is documented in "Adventures of Purse and Person---1607-1625, page 51, Virginia".This Robart lived in Elizabeth Cittie. The first documented Albrightons in Early Virginia were Francis who purchased land in 1651 and Joseph who was a witness to a court document in 1657.There was also a Thomas Allbritton who was transported to Maryland as a bonded servant in 1658. There is a lot of misleading information floating around about the origin of the Albrighton, Albritton family. Hopefully, this will help to clarify some of it. Let me know if more information is needed.
