While recently searching through the old minutes of the Red Banks Primitive Baptist Church, I found this notation in the minutes of an Albritton marriage:
1 Sept 1803 "Samuel Albritton and Tabitha Bell married"
This church was constituted in what was then Beaufort County in 1758, but the region became Pitt County in 1760. The minutes begin in 1791. The church met at various meeting houses at different times of the year back then. Since there are no marriage records in existence for Pitt County, this is possibly the only proof of the marriage date of this couple.
