Hi Gary,
Thanks for the information. I descend from Allen Albritton's brother, George Washington Albritton (1810-1867). I have not worked much on Allen's family, but I have done quite a bit of work on their parents, Enoch Albritton & Penelope Frizzle, as well as Penelope's father John Frizzle and grandfather Jesse Rountree.
I do have one question about the place of birth you assign for Allen Albritton. I have carefully studied the existing records of Pitt County, and there are only a few mentions of Enoch Albritton. Most of these date between 1797 and 1806. However, all information I have is that Enoch lived in Pitt County until he departed from the state in 1806 and moved to Georgia. He owned land in Pitt 1797-1806, and his father-in-law John Frizzle lived in southwestern Pitt County between 1774 and 1818.
I believe that Greene County was only formed in 1799, five years after Allen's birth, so literally he couldn't have been born there.
Do you have any other evidence that indicates he was born in Snow Hill, NC? I'm curious because I have never found any record of Enoch Albritton outside Pitt County until he left for Georgia. As you know, the Albrittons settled in Snow Hill, Wilcox County Alabama in the early 1820s, and Enoch died there in 1834. Could there have been confusion between the two different Snow Hills?
Thanks for posting your information.
