Brett, You confirm that the New England ALbro's claim descent from the John Alberie who came over with Freeborn.
I am fully confident that this John Alberie was the 3rd son of Henry Albery of Lock's farm Wokingham, Berks.
I am fully confident that this John Alberie was the 3rd son of Henry Albery of Lock's farm Wokingham, Berks. The family coat of arms ( I have copied the grant or confirmation in my first posting) is more simply described as a white shield bearing a blue engrailed cross between four stock doves. My suspicion is that no descent remains from John's elder brothers and therefore his senior descendant might bne able to claim a right to the undifferenced arms. The next brother, William, went to Bermuda and I believe thence to Bahamas where Albury is one of the most common surnames. It would be very interesting to do a one-name study of all American Albros to se how they relate and draw up a tree of John's descendants. Any volunteers? comments powered by Disqus
