Harbour Island, before 1850
Just returned from Harbour Island.Beautiful place for a relaxed vacation, but not much for on-site ancestor hunting. All the old graves are missing tombstones and the vital statistics are in Nassau. We talked to the librarian, local (self-styled) historian, 90+ year-old people, but learned nothing new.Had a great time, though, and the people are very friendly and helpful. If you are related to Sydney Albury at the Tip Top grocery store, you are in luck.He has a complete list of his genealogy.Unfortunately, his Alburys were loyalists and mine were there direct from England by way of Bermuda. We sure did enjoy our visit though.
