Teresa,
I am a descendant of John Franklin Allday and his wife Margaret Ann Harrison who wed
in Stewart Co. in 1842. In the 1850 census
his father John Perrin Allday and his wife
Penelope were also living in his household.
Do you know that the family originated in
Burke Co. GA and had lived there since Josiah
Allday received a Royal Land Grant in 1770 in
St.George's Parish which became Burke Co.
after the Revolution. The family was there
for several generations.Between 1850 and 1860 John F. and Margaret left GA for Texas.
They settled in Cass Co. across the state
line from Ark. and La. in or near Atlanta.
Many fromGA settled there.John F. enlisted in the Confederate Army in the Civil War in the 4th Texas Field Battery,
VanDorn's Company of Light Artillery at the
age of 46.He died in hospital at Alexandria
LA. Margaret was left alone to raise their
children with the help of John's brothers
who had also migrated to the area, James and
Greenberry.
The children of John F. and Margaret were:
Mary b. 1844 Rufus b. 1846 Alphaeus b.1847
Leanna Rachel(my great-grandmother)b.1849.
I have the names of all his siblings' children and other info if you would like to
contact me. My [email protected].
I hope you have family data on John Perrin
back to Josiah. I am working on the family
in Virginia as well.
Ann
