I didn't know until today that John Alden and Pricilla Mullins first born son John was accused of Witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Details are sketchy because from the book, The Devil in Massachusetts by Starkey, it says John Alden accused was the first born of the John and Priscilla of Plymouth Colony. Then from a website with an incredibly long address http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/etcbin/browse-Salem?id=BurNar&data=/texts/english/salem&tag=public#n286http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/etcbin/browse-Salem?id=BurNar&data=/texts/english/salem&tag=public#n286 and if it even works from this will be a miracle, but on this site from a text on the Witch Trials of Salem, it says An Account how John Aldin, Senior, was dealt with at Salem-Village. (this is how his name was spelled on these papers). John Aldin Sr. of Boston a Marriner on the 28th day of May 1692 was sent before the courts in Salem after having been one of the Accused. However a letter from the King and Queen of England, William and Mary ordered him released from Prison in Boston where he had remained some 15 weeks. After receiving this letter he was released.Apparently during his imprisonment he escaped and was brought back. I just thought this was an interesting story. John Alden and Priscilla Mullins are my 11th grt. grandparents.
