First I was going to write you about the Schaeffer/Schafer/Shaffer/Shaver/Shafer family and also got carried away with Smith and others.
At least you only have 15 pages of messages for me to check and I think last I remember, I have 52?I've been trying to find family forever. My Dad's side was relatively easy in comparison to my mothers.
Mom's side seems to intermix with each other down through the generations.
Let me starte with William C. Smith b? father of Mary Elizabeth Smith b 1802, she married a Dorsey/etc.Their daughter b 1826 m Woolley/Wooley/Willey/Wiley/Wylie/etc many more variations.
The Woolley's had a son married a Neal/Neely/Kneely/etc who in turn had a son who married a Shafer/etc.She is the one with whom I am having difficulty.
Eurilla Eolin (some say that came from Bolin(g))Shafer b about 1881- 1934.I know not from where she came or the given names of her parents.I do have a picture of them however and on the back it says Grandparents Schafer while on a visit.Wish it had mentioned from where.
Eurilla m Daniel Lee Woolley b ? son of George Herbert Woolley b 1854 m Elizabeth Rebecca Neal b 1855 in Champaign Co., OH and I have her direct line back to early 1700's but not all the spouses of the family.
On the Neal side of the family, my g-grandmother's brother is said to have married Florence H. Allen daughter of Edward and Caroline Allen of Johnson Co.,?Neal and Allen were married in OH?Neal was born in Champaign Co., OH.All my Neals were born there, but didn't all stay there.
The family that I knew where they were originally buried many surnames have been moved long ago to different areas. The only reason I can figure may have something to do with their religious beliefs???I haven't figured that one out, they weren't all moved to the same place. Some went to Graceland Cemetery in Shelby Co., OH.I fought for sometime with a cousin I found, thinking she was mistaken where our family was buried.Someone sweet in OH checked for me and that's when I discovered they were no longer in Rosedale, though the cemetery is still there and well.
I have been looking for a Margaret Bird and see you have Birdsey and Beardsley, names I have seen as I research.I have a Bird m to Marrs/Myers/Maier/Meier/Mead/Meer/Meek/Mear/etc in 1857 in OH.Do you think they name may have been shortened?
Wallingford is also on my list of surnames, but I haven't started them.
I see you have a Bolling, remember what I said about eolin?

Now if that isn't enough, I can't remember the name I found was changed to Gates when they came to America.
The above are those from your list of messages.Believe it or not I have hundreds more.
My mother gave me only surnames, no given names, dates, or locations.I had my Neals in a partial family Bible, along with Robinson, Chambers, and a Woolley which was my g-grandfather.All the rest has been research and plenty of help.
By the way, I have seen Blankenau, was that ever spelled Blankenship?I have the latter too.
Care to dig in and see what we can find? No, I don't have a Gedcom or anything like that.I am not computer literate enough to do that.I am fortunate for long term memory as my short term stinks from a brain injury.I am pleased just to have learned to make my fingers work better than my mouth and at least doing this, I can keep notes.I'm just not any good cognitively to put them all together like they should be.If I hadn't gained weight sitting in a wheelchair all day, I would be lost under my desk with all the papers, folders, notebooks, and STUFF.I am having lots of fun.
Guess that's it for about now, can't wait for a relpy, have fun.
